Challenge: Our nation’s service men and women give their time, talent, and too often their lives and limbs to protect our nation and preserve our freedoms. When their term of service is over, they need to be assured of our gratitude as well as our commitment to meeting their physical, emotional, educational, and material needs. Over the past year, it has become apparent that the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs have failed to provide some of our veterans with all of the care and benefits they deserve.
I am committed to identifying the ongoing needs of our nation’s veterans. Working with our Fifth District County Directors for Veterans Affairs as well as local veterans themselves, I will seriously listen to their concerns and work to improve their benefits as well as the quality of their health care.
